Headline

Tip management built by someone who did the job.

Sub-headline: Calculate, distribute, and document tips accurately — without spreadsheets, bank connections, or software built for corporate chains.

The problem we built it for

If you manage a restaurant, you already know the routine. Shift ends, tips come in, and someone has to work out who gets what.

So you open a spreadsheet. You pull the hours. You cross-reference who worked which section, who tipped out to whom, who came in late and left early. You do the math twice because getting it wrong means an employee is short on payday and in your office the next morning. Then you do it again next week, and the week after that.

It takes hours you don't have. It produces numbers you can't easily prove six months later. And a single transposed figure becomes a wage dispute.

TipLedger was built to end that.

What TipLedger does

Automatic tip calculations. Enter your tips and hours, and TipLedger distributes them according to the rules you set — by hours worked, by role, by section, or by whatever pooling structure your house uses. The math is done before you've finished making coffee.

Shift and hours tracking. Track who worked, when, and in what role, so tip distribution reflects what actually happened on the floor rather than what someone remembers.

Fair, transparent payouts. Every employee's share is calculated the same way, every time, using rules you defined in advance. When someone asks why their number looks different this week, you can show them.

Clean payroll reporting. Produce clear reports ready to hand to payroll or your accountant — so the tip numbers that leave your restaurant match the ones that went into it.

A defensible record. Every distribution is documented and retrievable. If you are ever asked to demonstrate how tips were allocated — by an employee, an accountant, or an auditor — the record exists, and it isn't a spreadsheet someone overwrote in March.

Desktop and mobile. Run it at the office computer or finish the tip-out from your phone before you leave.

What makes it different

No bank connections. TipLedger never touches your accounts. It calculates and documents; it does not move money. Nothing to link, nothing to expose.

No third-party access. Your labor data is some of the most sensitive information your business holds. It stays yours.

No integration project. You are not installing a platform or scheduling an onboarding call. You open it and use it.

Built for your size. Tip compliance software is generally priced and designed for restaurant groups with a finance department. TipLedger is built for the operator who is also the person doing the tip-out at eleven at night.

Built from the desk, not from a pitch deck. TipLedger comes from years of managing payroll for a high-volume New York restaurant — tip distribution, tip credit calculations, and wage compliance under state and federal law, done by hand, week after week. Every feature exists because the alternative was a spreadsheet at midnight.

Who it's for Independent restaurants, bars, and cafés running tip pools or tip-outs Restaurant managers and owners handling tip distribution themselves Small groups with a handful of locations and no dedicated payroll department Any operator who wants tip records they can actually produce when asked A note on compliance

Tip pooling and tip credit rules are governed by federal wage law and by your state, and they carry real consequences when records are thin. TipLedger helps you apply your rules consistently and keep documentation of every distribution.

It is a tool, not legal advice, and it does not replace guidance from your own attorney or accountant on how your tip structure should be set up. What it does is make sure that once your rules are set, they are applied the same way every time — and that you can prove it.
